Last week, I had the privilege to participate in the "What We Learned in Norway" session at the ICSEI conference in Ottawa with Leanne and Chris from Pereyma. It was one of (at least 3?) NorCan related workshops at this very large gathering of educators and researchers from around the world.
Here is a brief summary of our sharing:
- Overview Effect
- We went to the moon and as a result saw Earth differently -- a great way of thinking about NorCan and how it can serve as a mirror held up to each school...this mirror spotlights strengths as seen through the eyes of others and causes deeper reflection and growth
- Pereyma (Oshawa) learning journey
- Tecumseh Vista (Windsor) – Empowering Student Voice and Agency Through Math Council
- This is my Voice (student video)
To me our NORCAN group is like a family -- the most difficult thing about the session was trying to do justice to the vision and passion Paul Bisson brought to our family. I think his legacy will continue to live on in our hearts and minds but most importantly in the actions each of us take to continue to foster student voice and agency.
tusen takk,
Jim

Thank you Jim for sharing this on the ning - and thanks also to the Pereyma team for a great session on lessons learned from Norway.
It was truly inspiring and moving.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for sharing and the Vista Family is especially thankful for your willingness to ensure Paul's Vision was shared while we went back to the "Ranch" to help the transition team.
It is already not the same without Paul and we are going to try our best to ensure that his passion projects don't simply fade away.
Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
